BCCP Bartending Competition Mechanics

Requirements for all Participants/ Contestants

  1. Bartender’s profile in Word Format (1 to 2 paragraphs only)
  2. Signed copy of the BCCP Bartending Competition Mechanics

(Deadline of submission of requirements is on 18 June 2017)

I.  Entry

  1. One entry per person
  2. Entries must be in the form of a long or short drink, not a shot.
  3. Participating bartender must be at least 18 years of age to take part.

II. Ingredients

  1. One local fruit ingredient
  2. Cocktail must contain a minimum of 30 ml or 1 oz. GSM Premium Gin, and the total combined alcoholic ingredients must be equivalent to no more than 100 ml or 3.5 oz.

III. Drinks & Preparation

  1. Mixing Competition Only (No flaring) Drinks must be assembled in front of the judges.
  2. Bartenders must supply their own bartending utensils (shaker, bar spoon, strainer, etc.)
  3. Each bartender must make 4 identical drinks (for the 3 judges and 1 photographer).
  4. Bartenders must be able to prepare drinks with a strict maximum of 5 Minutes (but will be given an additional 5 minutes prior to making their drink to familiarize themselves with the bar area and prepare equipment and ingredients). When the timer reaches the 5-minute mark, competitors will be asked by the host to stop what they are doing if they have not already finished.
  5. Cocktail must contain a minimum of 1 oz. GSM Premium Gin, and the total combined alcoholic ingredients must be equivalent to no more than 3.5 oz. Other liquors added must not overpower the flavor of the GSM Premium Gin.

IV. Copyright

  1. By entering this competition, bartenders agree to assign copyright of their recipes and drink names to the competition organizers.
  2. Bartenders and drinks presented during the competition may be photographed (still or motion picture) by the organizers, and copyright of these images for any use, across all media, will be retained by the competition organizers.

V.  Drink Name

  1. Drink names including rude, lurid or sexual words or associated with narcotics   or motor vehicles are prohibited.

VI.  Conduct

  1. Bartenders are encouraged to talk to the judges while making their drinks. Points will be awarded for general presentation and working methods.
  2. Bartenders using rude or swear words will be disqualified.

VII. Adjudication:

  1.  The competition organizers reserve the right to have the final decision on any matter relating to the judging of the competition.
  2. The competition organizers will appoint the panel of judges and reserve the right to replace or appoint new judges before or during the competition.
  3. The judges must remain impartial and declare any vested interest they may have in the competition or competitors. They must judge each competitor on their competition presentation and drinks alone.

VIII.  Criteria for Judging:

Taste and Balance – 40%

  • Use one unique local Fruit Ingredient

Originality and Creativity of the Recipe- 30%

  • Recipes must not be copied from magazine, cookbooks or other contests.
  • Recipes should be done originally yet creatively.

Visual Appeal – 30%

  • Garnish and Decoration
  • Color and Uniqueness

By joining the BCCP Bartending Competition, you warrant that:

  • You are the creator of the recipe.
  • The recipe does not infringe on the intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights or any other legal or moral rights of any third party, including any current or former employer, and does not defame any person or identify any person by name other identifying information.
  • The recipe has not previously been entered in any other contest and has not been previously published in any medium.
  • The recipe does not violate any law or regulation.
  • Competitor agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Organizer and/or its affiliates for all costs, legal fees and expenses incurred by Organizer as a result of any claim, allegation, lawsuit or complaint of any nature, including but not limited to those by third parties alleging infringement of any intellectual property rights, related in any way to the Recipe or related information submitted by Participant.
